On Monday, Sept. 27 Target Chip Ganassi Racing drivers Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon took to the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway for testing in preparation for the IZOD IndyCar Series season finale this Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 pm (ET).
Team Target will look to build upon the success they have achieved at the “Championship Track,” where they have claimed six wins (four of them consecutive - 1996, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009),11 podiums, 15 top-five and 20 top-10 finishes and led 555 laps.
Franchitti enters Homestead as the defending race champion, and in the midst of a title fight, trailing Penske driver Will Power in the championship standings by 12 points. In six starts at Homestead, Franchitti has one win, two top-five and four top-10 finishes with 25 laps led.
Dixon enters the race just outside the top-three in the championship standings, trailing Helio Castroneves by four points. He has made seven starts at Homestead, claiming two wins, five top-five and five top-10 finishes, with 208 laps led.
