GANASSI DRIVERS FINALISTS FOR ANDRETTI TROPHY
Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver Dario Franchitti and TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver Scott Pruett have been selected as finalists for SPEED Performer of the Year. Representing both four-wheel and two-wheel efforts across the globe, the Mario Andretti Trophy goes to the racer who puts a premium on winning races, shines on the sport’s biggest stages and does it all with a measure of sportsmanship and class.
The Ganassi drivers are joined by an elite group of drivers from all realms of the motorsports world including Tony Stewart (NASCAR), Sebastian Vettel (Formula 1) and Casey Stoner (MotoGP), Ryan Villopoto (Supercross/Motocross), and Kyle Larson (USAC/WoO) as nominees for the Sixth Annual SPEED Performer of the Year award. The winner receives the Mario Andretti Trophy, a 100-pound bronze sculpture created by artist Elie Hazak, to be presented as part of a special edition of SPEED Center.
Franchitti collected four wins, his third consecutive IndyCar title and his fourth championship in the last five years; he is only the third driver in IndyCar Series history to ever win at least three titles in a row (Ted Horn: 1946-1948 and Sebastien Bourdais: 2004-2007).
Pruett scored his second consecutive Grand-Am Rolex Series title, and third in four years (2008, 2010, and 2011). After visiting victory lane five times this season, he has become the all-time wins leader with 36 career victories.
