The application window for the 2023 Women In Motorsports internship program with Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) and PNC Bank is officially open.

The program, which is designed to support the next generation of females to succeed as engineers, mechanics, entrepreneurs and other motorsports-related careers, is entering its second year. College students from around the country have until September 30, 2022 to apply for the fully-funded program set for summer 2023.

Interns will be fully integrated into CGR’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES teams including six-time series champion Scott Dixon and his No. 9 PNC Bank Honda crew. With projects ranging from engine builds and electronic design in the team’s Indianapolis headquarters to race day duties and performance modifications at race tracks across the country, the 2023 internship class will be well placed to pursue careers in motorsports.

Internship Description
  • The CGR Indianapolis shop is based in Park 100 on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. From this shop, we run four IndyCars, two IMSA DPi sports cars and an Extreme E electric off-road racer.
  • According to your abilities and our requirements, you could be placed within a department such as engineering, racing operations, information technology, athletic training, or other (e.g. technical or operational).
Potential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with assigned department and managers to complete tasks
  • Take the assigned project(s) through from initial stage to completion
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization, as needed
  • Participate in additional internship events and attend races, as required
  • Role- and department-specific duties and responsibilities will be shared and reviewed upon selection into the Internship program
Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in courses focused on engineering, automotive mechanics, computer science, fitness, sports management, or similar major
  • Must have at least a 3.5 GPA
  • Must live in Indianapolis area or willing to relocate for the course of the program
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple activities required
  • Able to work independently at times and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplined team
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with all levels of a large team structure
