Alex Palou
Driver, Chip Ganassi Racing
Alex Palou enters the 2023 campaign with a series championship (2021), four wins and 15 podiums under his belt at just 25 years old. The 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season will mark his fourth in the series and his third with Chip Ganassi Racing. Palou’s formidable consistency has been on display with CGR, as he has finished on the podium in nearly half of his races with the team (14 podiums in 33 races).
Palou put forth a commanding title defense bid in 2022, scoring six podium appearances and a victory in the season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. With the victory, Palou set a track record by way of a margin of victory of 30.3812 seconds. The impressive margin of victory was also the third-greatest in a single race since the INDYCAR SERIES reunification in 2008.
The Spaniard led a breakout season in 2021 where he tallied three wins, and 12 top-10 finishes en route to hoisting the Astor Cup as series champion. Palou collected his first series win in his first ever start with Chip Ganassi Racing, where he led 56 laps en route to victory at Barber Motorsports Park. He will again pilot the No. 10 Honda for his sophomore season with the CGR team.
In 2020, Palou scored his first-career podium at Road America in his rookie NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, while also impressing with a seventh-place qualifying effort in his first attempt at the Indianapolis 500.
Prior to making the jump to North American racing, Palou won a Super Formula Championship race in 2019, competed at the All-Japan Formula 3 championship in 2017, recorded his first race in the Formula 3 Series in 2015, and made his debut in open-wheel racing competing in the Euroformula Open Championship in 2014.
