Internship Description
- Chip Ganassi has been a fixture in the auto racing industry for over 30 years and is considered one of the most successful and innovative owners in motorsports. Today, his teams include four Honda cars in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, one Cadillac V-Series.R in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, one Cadillac V-Series.R in the World Endurance Champions and one GMC HUMMER EV in Extreme E. Overall, his teams have 21 championships and more than 250 victories, including five wins in the Indianapolis 500, eight Rolex 24 At Daytona victories, and wins in the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ganassi boasts state-of-the-art facilities in Indianapolis, where INDYCAR, IMSA and Extreme E teams are located, and a corporate office in Pittsburgh.
- According to your abilities and our requirements, you could be placed with any one of these programs within a department such as engineering, racing operations, information technology, athletic training, or other (e.g. technical or operational).
Potential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with assigned department and managers to complete tasks and projects
- Take the assigned project(s) through from initial stage to completion
- Collaborate with departments across the organization, as needed
- Participate in additional internship events and attend races, as required
- Department-specific duties and responsibilities will be discussed at the start of the Internship program
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in courses focused on, but not limited to, engineering, mathematics, automotive mechanics, computer science, information technology, athletic training, or similar major
- Must be an enrolled student in the United States at the time of internship
- Must have at least a 3.5 GPA
- Students entering their third or fourth year of schooling preferred
- Must live in the Indianapolis area or willing to relocate for the course of the program
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple activities
- Able to work independently at times and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplined team
- Able to communicate and collaborate with all levels of a large team structure
- Must be able to work in an industrial shop environment and lift 30 pounds
