Lead Electrical Technician
Job Description:
Oversee a team of technicians through training and checking engineering drawings prior to release. Build complex electrical wiring looms. Prioritize and distribute workload among technicians. Provide quotes for jobs. Identify and fix electrical issues on Indycar models. Redesign spec electrical systems to improve reliability and reduce weight.
- Accurately build precision electrical wiring harnesses and circuits to meet design specifications.
- Collaborate closely with Engineers to ensure optimal results.
- Analyze and apply manufacturer specifications for a wide range of electrical components.
- Perform Cirris testing and programming.
- Troubleshoot wiring and electrical issues based on performance data from track events.
- Perform rigorous quality control checks to ensure all components meet exact standards.
- Communicate openly with team managers, engineers, vendors, and consultants to resolve issues and optimize performance.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of changes to electrical components and wiring strategies.
- Track part serial numbers using spreadsheets and databases to ensure full traceability.
- Meet tight deadlines for race car preparation without compromising on quality.
- Safely operate tools and equipment while adhering to all safety protocols and reporting hazards.
- Properly use and care for all company-issued property including uniforms, tools, and electronic devices.
- Represent the team and our sponsors professionally at all times, including during shop tours and events.
- Keep your work area organized and assist team members with additional duties as needed.
Job Requirements:
- 5 years of experience with electronics building, wiring, and installation in a high-level motorsport environment/team.
- Other experience must include:
- Use of Cirris testing
- Soldering to IPC 610 standards, PCB and component soldering experience, surface mounts
- Experience building electrical harnesses both high voltage and low voltage
- Building, commissioning, and testing ERS battery packs
- System 25 knowledge and experience building Autosport and Souriau connectors
- Building sensor assemblies and complex harnesses including engine/chassis harnesses
- Valid/current IPC certifications.
- Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
