Christian Lundgaard has established himself as one of the most accomplished young drivers in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. The Danish racer will join Chip Ganassi Racing in 2027, taking the wheel of the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda alongside teammates Alex Palou and Kyffin Simpson.

At 25, Lundgaard already owns three INDYCAR victories, 16 podiums and three poles through 87 starts. He has led 275 laps and completed nearly 20,000 miles of INDYCAR competition.

Lundgaard rose through European karting and junior formula competition before spending three seasons in Formula 2, where he earned multiple victories and nine podium finishes. He also gained Formula 1 experience through simulator work with the Alpine F1 Team.

His INDYCAR story began at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in August 2021. In an impressive series debut, Lundgaard qualified fourth, led two laps and finished 12th.

He returned for a full season in 2022 and quickly demonstrated his potential. Lundgaard earned his first INDYCAR podium with a runner-up finish at Indianapolis and concluded the year as the series’ Rookie of the Year.

Lundgaard secured his first INDYCAR win on the streets of Toronto in July 2023. Starting from pole, he led 54 of the race’s 85 laps and recorded the fastest lap on his way to victory. The win made Lundgaard the first Danish driver to win an INDYCAR race, just one week before his 22nd birthday.

He took another step forward in 2026, winning at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and Road America while finishing a career-best third in the standings.

Lundgaard will carry the colors of PNC Bank in the No. 9 Honda. PNC Bank has partnered with Chip Ganassi Racing since 2013 and has served as the primary partner of the No. 9 since 2018.
