INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 22, 2025) – DHL, the world’s leading international express service provider, teamed up with Chip Ganassi Racing, Borg-Warner and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES earlier this month to deliver one of motorsport’s most iconic prizes, the Borg-Warner Trophy, to Spain for the first time. The trophy is presented yearly to the winner of the biggest motor race in the world, the Indianapolis 500 where over 350,000 people attend it annually. In Spain, the trophy took part in a special homecoming media tour with 2025 race winner and four-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou.

The historic trophy traveled over 8,500 round-trip air miles aboard a DHL aircraft as part of a celebration of Palou’s landmark 500 victory, the first by a Spanish driver. Over a week in Spain, Palou visited legendary locations, prominent media outlets and more across the country, completing over a dozen stops along the way.

Notes of Interest:

  • Delivering Excellence to Spain: The multi-organization effort was the culmination of months of planning and execution between DHL, Borg-Warner, INDYCAR and Chip Ganassi Racing. Since DHL joined Chip Ganassi Racing as a partner before the 2024 season, the team has combined to win 13 races while scoring 10 poles and 31 podium finishes. That includes back-to-back championships for DHL in addition to this year’s Indianapolis 500 triumph.
  • Un Gran Viaje (A Big Trip): The tour featured multiple crown jewel stops. First, the trophy made a visit to DHL’s recently opened Barcelona hub where Palou took part in a town hall with employees, signing autographs and taking pictures with the trophy. Palou and the trophy visited the F.C. Barcelona soccer match vs. Atletico Madrid at the recently reopened Camp Nou, which saw Palou meet club president Joan Laporta during a 3-1 victory for his hometown team. The group then headed south to Madrid to take part in a photo shoot at the scenic and historic Plaza España Terrace of Palacio de Cibeles, overlooking the nation’s capital. Along the way, Palou completed over a dozen interviews with key media outlets across the country.
