GMC HUMMER EV Team Finishes 4th in Extreme E's Second Season
Extreme E
The Chip Ganassi Racing team fought hard in an action-packed Semi Final 1 at the Energy X Prix today, but did not advance to the Final. With today's results, the No. 99 GMC HUMMER EV team secured a fourth-place finish in the Season 2 series standings.
In the Semifinals, there was contact between the No. 99 and the No. 5 on the first waypoint of lap one, but Sara Price fiercely closed a substantial gap, evening things up before RJ Anderson's run. The No. 99 GMC HUMMER EV was the second car to finish the race, but unfortunately the team was relegated to P3 after penalties were distributed for contact with two waypoints.
With the final race of the year in the books, Chip Ganassi Racing's Extreme E team has improved four positions from their inaugural season in the electric off-road series.
Sara Price - No. 99 GMC HUMMER EV
"We didn't make it through to the Final and that really put a damper on our chances to win the championship, but we definitely left everything out there on the track. We both had to go for it in the Semifinals and we did exactly that. Unfortunately, on that start, we knew there was a chance of things happening and they did. I drove my heart out trying to catch the other two and have a chance. RJ did a really great job, as well, but the cards just weren't in our favor. One thing is for sure, we left it all out there."
RJ Anderson - No. 99 GMC HUMMER EV
"That's a wrap on a first and busy weekend in Extreme E with Chip Ganassi Racing. It was such a great experience. With Semi Final 1, I got my first head-to-head battle and it was awesome. My door kept flying open and eventually it just evacuated the premises. We were able to finish the race in second place, enough to transfer, but some knocked down flags took us out of contention. We've been doing everything the right way, so I am bummed for the team. Overall, I'm very thankful for the experience and I had a great time working with Sara who drove very well. I sure wish we could have made the Final, but we checked off a lot of goals along the way nonetheless."
