Palou scores Top-5 in Milwaukee Mile 250

Results: P1 O’Ward, P5 Palou, P15 Dixon, P19 Simpson

WEST ALLIS, Wisc. – The Milwaukee Mile 250 didn't yield the championship Chip Ganassi Racing had hoped to clinch in the first of two Sunday races at the Milwaukee Mile.

Alex Palou entered the day with a fourth consecutive NTT INDYCAR SERIES title in reach. Palou started from the pole and led a race-high 115 laps in the afternoon event, the first of two races scheduled for Sunday. The Saturday race was stopped because of rain shortly before the midway point and INDYCAR planned to complete it after Sunday’s event.

Palou wound up finishing fifth, one spot ahead of title challenger Kyle Kirkwood. Palou holds a 97-point lead over Kirkwood headed into the completion of the Milwaukee Mile doubleheader.

Scott Dixon finished 15th in the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda, followed by Kyffin Simpson, 19th in the No. 8 Sunoco Honda.

UP NEXT: There are 160 laps left to complete the rain-stopped Saturday race from the Milwaukee Mile. INDYCAR only needs to get to the halfway point to make the race official. Coverage begins at 6:06 PM ET / 5:06 PM CT, live on FS1.
