INDIANAPOLIS — Chip Ganassi Racing’s record-setting 18th IndyCar championship has received recognition from the White House.
President Donald Trump sent team owner Chip Ganassi a letter congratulating
him and the organization on winning its 18th INDYCAR championship, which moved
CGR into sole possession of the all-time record for most championships in
INDYCAR history.
“I am so pleased to congratulate you on claiming your 18th IndyCar Series championship — a record-breaking achievement that puts your team in sole possession of the most championships in IndyCar history!” Trump wrote in the letter, dated Aug. 31.

The championship continued a run of success for the Indianapolis-based organization and gave Ganassi another milestone in a career that has spanned more than three decades.
Trump praised Ganassi and the organization for the sustained success,
pointing to the people behind the team and the qualities that have helped
establish CGR as one of the most accomplished organizations in American
motorsports.
“Chip Ganassi Racing continues to be at the forefront of the racing world,”
Trump wrote. “Your team is composed of elite competitors who consistently
demonstrate grit, hard work, and dedication.”
The president also recognized Ganassi’s longevity and leadership, noting his
36 years of competition and saying his approach has “resulted in unprecedented
success and set the gold standard in the sport of racing.”
“You are a true winner, who represents the very best of our great Nation,” Trump wrote.
Trump closed the letter by saying first lady Melania Trump joined him in sending best wishes to Ganassi and his family.
The recognition from the White House follows another historic season for
Ganassi’s organization, which has built its IndyCar success across multiple
eras, drivers and manufacturers.
Its 18th championship broke the series record and further added to Ganassi’s standing among the most successful team owners in American motorsports.
