INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 24, 2025) – Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) has been awarded thirteen GOAL Medal Awards recognizing the team’s accomplishments toward sustainability. CGR has more than doubled its 2024 total through a focused effort and commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) efforts in the organization and beyond with its “One Team, One Planet” platform.
GOAL (Green Operations and Advanced Leadership) is a pioneering sustainability-driven membership and support network of over 55 global members from sports, entertainment, and live event venues, including stadiums, arenas, theaters, and convention centers.
CGR more than doubled its recognitions from 2024. The awards, presented Sept. 9 at the GOAL Medal Awards in Las Vegas, are an opportunity to recognize leadership across sports in a variety of ESG topics. The areas are broken into 10 categories that GOAL Members can be recognized for various actions at either a bronze, silver, or gold level.
Notes of Interest:
• Leading On and Off the Track: CGR received thirteen medals across seven sustainability categories, an increase from last year’s six medals, underscoring the team’s commitment and measured progress in the sustainability space. The two golds reflected achievements in sustainability strategy and partnership activations supporting the community. CGR is the only motorsports entity awarded by GOAL, reinforcing its leadership and innovation off track. On track, CGR won nine NTT INDYCAR SERIES races in 2025, including the 109th Indianapolis 500, and locked up its third consecutive INDYCAR championship, and 17th overall.
• Goals for the Future: Announced in 2024, CGR's sustainability goals include moving toward 100% renewable energy, carbon emissions reduction, and community engagement. Many recognitions this year reflect better emissions reporting, improvement in the handling of waste materials, and more robust community engagement.
• GOAL Medals: The GOAL Medals Awards program is the first industry-wide benchmarking and recognition tool to validate incremental sustainability efforts across 10 ESG topics. GOAL utilizes Salesforce Net Zero Cloud for carbon accounting and customized industry comparisons, which informs action-planning, goal-setting, and corporate partnership support, including connections to vetted vendors. By fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and offering tailored support, GOAL empowers organizations to enhance their sustainability efforts, no matter where they are on their journey.
• Joining Teams Across Sports: CGR again joins teams, leagues and venues across sports in working toward sustainability goals. Other members of GOAL include teams in MLB, the NBA and the NHL, along with major sporting venues around the world.
